Karjaa St. Catherine’s Church is open
The church will be open in the summer of 2026 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from noon (12 a.m.) to 4 pm. from 9 June to 12 August

St. Catherine’s Greystone Church was built in the 1400s and consecrated in 1470. The sacristy dates back to the 1300s. The church is a three-nave hall church; Its The nave is shaped like a star vault, the side aisles are equipped with cross vaults and the sacristy like vaulted ceilings, they are decorated with painted plant-themed ornaments with red and with its blue central patterns. In 1937, the limestone paintings were unveiled again. The church has, among other things, a triumphal crucifix from 1450, wooden sculptures and coats of arms. The church textiles are the work of textile artist Barbro Gardberg from 1976.
Next to the church is a bell tower, which was completed in 1768. There are two bells in the belfry from the earliest years of the Church; One of the bells is marked with the year 1477.
