About the association

The Karis-Karjaa 700 ry association was founded in 2024 to draw attention to and coordinate events related to the 700th anniversary of Karis-Karjaa in 2026.

The earliest source where Karis is mentioned in writing is dated 24 October 1326.

The anniversary year is celebrated with a broad popular commitment where the local associations, active people, the parish and the various units of the city together create a wide range of programs and activities. The main event of this year’s festivities, Karis Day, will be held on 6 June 2026.

On this page you will find information about the activities of the septem centenary year. Our association has developed a logo for the anniversary year. It may be used freely for all approved cooperation events related to the centenary year.

The purpose of the Karis-Karjaa 700 association is to promote interest in the local area and to make our long history visible. In addition to the town’s exciting past, the association also wants to highlight today’s Karis and look ahead.
